September at Eastside Union: Attendance and Hispanic Heritage Month

Eastside Union Families,

This September, we're Powered by Purpose — and that purpose shows up in two important ways this month.

Attendance Awareness Month
Consistent attendance is one of the clearest drivers of student achievement. Missing just two days a month — even for reasons that feel minor — adds up to lost instructional time that's hard to make up. Improve Attendance is one of our four district goals this year, and we can't reach it without families as partners.

What this looks like day to day:

  • Building consistent morning routines so school starts the day feeling manageable, not rushed
  • Scheduling appointments outside school hours when possible
  • Talking with your student about why school matters, even on hard days
  • Reaching out to your school's office or counselor early if something at home is making regular attendance difficult

Hispanic Heritage Month
Starting September 15, our schools will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring the histories, cultures, and contributions of our Hispanic and Latino students, families, and staff. Watch for classroom activities, cultural showcases, and a community event celebrating the rich heritage woven into the fabric of Eastside Union.

Every day counts. Every story matters. Everyone contributes, and every student achieves.
